Hunting, patrolling, checking apprentices, checking the nursery… It was all boring and done every single day. Dovepelt didn’t even need to check the apprentices! She wasn’t mentoring anyone now, however she always felt that it was a good thing to do, even if it was often overlooked by other warriors. Sometimes even the apprentices never understood why she was doing it. She slinked through the camp, leaving a magpie on the fresh kill pile. This was perhaps the third piece of kill she had caught today, and knew it was more than enough for her to do. She nodded to the warriors she was on patrol with before parting, glancing around camp.
The warriors den looked like it had a napping cat in it, so she wasn’t interested in going there. The medicine cat wasn’t where she wanted to be; neither was the nursery, and most of the apprentices were busy with chores and training. Dovepelt couldn’t help but wonder what it’d be like to have another apprentice, and if she wouldn’t be as bored as she was right now. Licking down some fur on her shoulder, her blue eyes scanned the camp one more time, and she finally decided there was nothing interesting here. She exited the camp swiftly, lithe body easily fleeting through the wheat, navigating easily. She had grown up here, and like any GoldenClan cat, she could do this with her eyes closed.
Finally slowing her pace, Dovepelt could see her target up ahead. The old fence. She enjoyed coming here just to bask in the silence and revel in what had happened during the day, sometimes even feeling nostalgic. With evening coming in, Dovepelt was confident she was not going to be asked to go on patrol. She could see a crow resting on one of the poles, but it did not bother her. Instead, she leapt up to it, allowing it to see her and fly off with a frightened caw. She took its place easily on the pole, dainty paws finding their place and her tail wrapping around them.
Her eyes wandered to the dimming sky, tilting her head a little. Life was funny sometimes. The beautiful colours of the oncoming evening were taking a sappy affect on her, and she looked down at the blades of grass below her instead. But then her eyes went back to the sky, and a smile appeared on her face. It really was beautiful to watch the sun go down.
